Reforms/ Solutions
One reform that could be made is stricter enforcements to the Mann Act of 1910. The original act states that it is a felony to knowingly persuade, induce, entice, or coerce an individual to travel across state lines to engage in prostitution or attempts to do so. It is an effective tool used to prosecute human traffickers. This Act that was passed is a good way to try to stop traffickers, but it should be much more strongly enforced to show traffickers that they can not get away with all these crimes that they are committing.
Another solution for human trafficking would be to have more awareness for human trafficking. People do not have much of an awareness for human trafficking and most people who are victims do not even know they are being trafficked but they are talked into it without knowing it is a trap. Some ways to spread the word would be to give more information about it at schools. Many victims of human trafficking are teenagers and if they do not know anything about it they could be in more danger.
A reform that could help would be a reform that connects with other countries to help protect people from smuggling. These countries could work together to help build a stronger effort against human trafficking. The problem with the smugglers and human traffickers is they feel like they can get away with anything and nobody is even paying attention to them. That would show human traffickers how serious the government is about stopping human trafficking.
